Today's Links XIII

Sorry, no "real" posts today. I've got a cold or something and my head is cloudy and not quite up to speed on the whole "critical thinking" thing.
My former roommate and occasional RGR commentator Josh informed me that RGR's feed wasn't working correctly with Firefox's Live Bookmarks feature, or with Yahoo! Mail's feed reader. I've managed to fix the Firefox thing; the problem seems to have been a special character in the title attribute of a link, which I guess Firefox didn't like. (If you didn't understand that last sentence, don't worry about it.) I have no clues as to why Yahoo! still doesn't like me, though. If you know of any other sites or readers which are not working correctly with my feed, please let me know and I'll see what I can do.
Speaking of Firefox, check out this Super Mario Bros 3-themed Firefox theme that he uses. Now that's old skool… with a "K." Now, on to the links.
- Alexa error triggers crisis of confidence. Another example on why overreliance on Alexa for statistics about the web's most popular web sites is a bad thing.
- 20 Quick Ways to Increase Your Alexa Rank. How to game Alexa to increase your rank. It's no coincidence I'm putting this link right after the one before it.
- Nintendo makes an epic donation to a good cause. Namely, several Nintendo DS units and games were given to Child's Play, a charity that hooks up kids in childrens' hospitals with video games to make their hospital stay a little more, well, fun.
- Apple, we're breaking up; you only want me for my source! Is Apple a good member of the open-source community?
- Japanese Ratatouille trailer, in English with Japanese subtitles. It shows a lot more about the plot of Pixar's upcoming movie than we've seen before. It looks like the Japanese name is going to be remii no oishii resutoran, or Remy's Delicious Restaurant. I'm a big fan of Pixar's works; The Incredibles is one of my most favorite movies of all time.
- News Corp and NBC announce parternship to create YouTube competitor. This one surprised me; News Corp and NBC are quite fierce competitors in the broadcast TV (Fox vs NBC) and cable news (Fox News vs MSNBC) spaces, but it looks like they're going to work together online. The service will offer free, ad-supported video and movies, both current and old. Sounds cool.
- Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5) not ready for April. The real news here, I think, is the bit about how this new version won't support application extensions via Input Manager. Does this mean I'll have to learn to live without SafariStand? I hope not.
- Tommy Boy Parody done by Microsoft Execs I haven't seen the movie they're parodying, but this flick is pretty funny by itself.
- Where Did All The Bloggers Go? Kumiko argues that bloggers shouldn't let commercial or other selfish interests stand in the way of taking a strong, controversial stance on an issue. Has RGR been too nice and too uncontroversial? Maybe…
